World's Edge and TiMi Studio Group have recently shared details about the highly anticipated Age of Empires Mobile for iOS and Android. This new entry maintains essential parts of the franchise's gameplay, such as building bases and engaging in PvP battles, but it will come with an interface designed specifically for mobile users to improve the gaming experience.
While a release date has not been firmly set, expectations are pointing to a potential launch on August 19, 2024. The game will feature a roster of legendary historical leaders like King Arthur, Joan of Arc, Julius Caesar, Leonidas I, and the Queen of Sheba, with each character bringing unique skills to the battlefield. Players will need to effectively utilize and combine these abilities to thrive in both PvP and PvE settings.
TiMi Studios will be self-publishing Age of Empires Mobile, a departure from their previous collaborations such as Call of Duty Mobile and Pokemon Unite, where IP holders managed publication rights. Their partnership with World's Edge is described as comprehensive and well-established. The developers intend to present the mobile game as a reimagined experience of the classic Age of Empires rather than a simple port of the PC version. Accordingly, Robin Xin, the game's producer, notes that the game will feature fewer units for players to manage, simplified operations, enhanced battle assists, and a more intuitive UI, all in service of focusing on strategic play over complex manipulation.
Xin has also pointed out the addition of fresh gameplay elements in Age of Empires Mobile. The title will include a variety of single-player modes rooted in the real-time strategy tradition, but a standout feature is certainly its multiplayer aspect. Alliance gameplay is at the forefront, allowing players to create formidable teams, partake in significant siege wars, and assert their dominance alongside a worldwide community. These collective efforts are meant to bolster a sense of teamwork and global competitiveness.
Age of Empires Mobile is set to commence early access testing in selected areas shortly, with pre-registration now open.
