Abdul Basit Muhammad Abdul Samad Salim Daud was one of the great Quran reciters from Egypt who had a special ability in reciting the Quran. This reader has many fans and imitators all over the world. He was also the first president of the Association of Quran Readers and Memorizers in Egypt. Abd al-Basit, Manshawi, Khalil al-Husari, and Mustafa Ismail are often cited as four important and great Qur'anic reciters in the contemporary era due to their great influence in the Islamic world.

Abd al-Basit Muhammad Abd al-Samad was born in 1927 in the village of Al-Mazaza, a city in the province of Qana in southern Egypt.

Abd al-Basit Muhammad Abd al-Samad was born in 1927 in the village of Al-Mazaza, a city in the province of Qana in southern Egypt. His family lineage is made up of Kurdish immigrants who migrated to Egypt with him in large numbers from Turkey during Salahuddin Ayoubi's campaigns. His father, Abdul Samad, was one of the teachers of memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran. At the age of six, Abd al-Basit went to the school of the Qur'an in Armenia. At the age of 10, he memorized the entire Qur'an. After Abd al-Basit reached the age of 12, invitations were sent to him from every town and village in Qana province, and especially from Asfun al-Muta'na, because the certificate of Master Salim, which was awarded to Abd al-Basit, was the point of confidence of all people.
